4 Best WP Plugins to create squeeze pages
In this post I explain squeeze pages, what they are, why you need one, how you can create your own squeeze page and the best WP squeeze page plugins for making your own.
What is a squeeze page?
A ‘squeeze page‘ is basically the name given to a specific type of web page, the intention of which is to get the web visitor to fill in an online form in order to capture their name and email address. Squeeze pages are landing pages that are designed to get a first name and email address from the visitor.
To get the email address of a visitor to your site you should offer them something that they see as valueable. It doesn’t necessarily have be costly or valueable to you, but it must be to them! You must offer them something that they perceive to be worth a lot to them. The thing you offer them is usually referred to as a “lead magnet”. Often the giveaway is free information, like an ebook, report or a newsletter. It is normally in digital format.
By offering something as an ‘ethical bribe’ for them to download you might convince them to give you their email address.
Why do I need a squeeze page?
It’s a great way of getting prospects to make that first step in your sales funnel. The goal is to build a list of potential customers – you are list building.
If you can convince them to trust you enough with their email address that it’s only another short step to get them to buy from you. Once you have their email address then you can send them emails encouraging them to return to your web site and/or attempt to sell them products.
70-90% of all website visitors will NEVER return to your website. This is why squeeze pages are critical for many businesses.

Squeeze pages have developed and improved over the years. Your pages will develop over time as well. It is a good idea to measure and analysis how effective your squeeze pages are. Measure how many times the page is viewed and how many times a visitor enters their details. Compare these results between two differently designed pages. This is called split-testing. The page with the better conversion rate is going to be the one you want to promote.
What can I give away as a lead magnet?
I suggest you don’t just grab some free PLR ebook and use it as your giveaway. Your ethical bribe should be tailored to your market. It has to be something that they see as valuable. Here are some suggestions:
- Survey results
- An ebook
- A free webinar
- A white paper
- A piece of software
- A podcast
- A report
- An interview series
- A video course
- A test or quiz
- An course delivered via email
- A physical item or product
How can I create one of these pages?
Remember a squeeze page is just a web page with a form for capturing email addresses and names. The page might then redirect the visitor to a download page or send them an automated email.
You could create one of these pages by making a web page in your web design application and adding the form. The most simplistic way of doing this is by adding a form that sends you an email whenever someone enters their email address. When you get the email saying someone has entered their details then you will need to record their email address in a text file or a database. You would also need to send the individual the free gift. This is the manual method and is obviously quite time consuming. Where ever possible you want to automate the process.
A more sophisticated form processing script would automatically send the visitor their gift (or to a URL) and add their email address to your database.
Email auto-responders can also do this process. Services such as Aweber, Mailchimp etc. You sign up to one of these services, create a campaign to effectively group your users emails and choose one of the form templates. You can then configure the settings to send the visitor an email with a download link to the ethical bribe / giveaway.
